As the Jones Wildfire continues to burn through Ocean County, NJ, local businesses are rising to support their community. New Jersey-born and based Lifebulb Counseling is offering free counseling to those whose lives have been impacted by the fire.
The fire has burned 8,500 acres, forcing over 3,000 people to evacuate their homes. As of Tuesday, April 22nd, more than 1,300 structures were threatened, and the Garden State Parkway, one of New Jersey’s busiest highways, was closed. Power was also cut to 25,000 homes at the request of the fire department to keep firefighters safe as they fight the burn. As of late morning on Wednesday, April 23rd, 30% of the wildfire has been contained. A state of emergency was declared for Ocean County.
Lifebulb Counseling and Therapy has employed therapists across New Jersey since their opening in 2022. Although they have recently been expanding across state borders, New Jersey is still the counseling practice’s home.
My heart goes out to all the families affected by this fire. Speaking with a professional can help to process the losses a disaster like this can cause, and I hope that Lifebulb can be a source of help through this tragedy.
