Carolyn Rizza
Carolyn Rizza has been working in the mental health field since March 2020. She earned both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from The College of New Jersey. Her experience includes providing in-person and virtual sessions, as well as counseling for individuals, couples, and groups. Carolyn prioritizes creating a safe, comfortable, and inclusive environment for each client. She collaborates with clients to work toward their goals and improve their overall quality of life.
One of the biggest breakthrough moments with a client was when a young man felt safe enough to lean into the therapy process, despite perceived stigma.Initially, this young man struggled to express himself and prioritize his wellness. After consistent sessions, this client made significant progress and started to see the benefits of engaging.
Every client will have a slightly different counseling process based on their individual needs and comfortability. I like to start off the counseling process by building rapport and creating a safe and collaborative space. Each session will be based on the client's immediate needs.
The first session will consist of information gathering and rapport building. I invite all of my clients to ask questions and identify their expectations for the process. Building rapport and getting to know each other is critical!
I cherish being a safe space and empathetic ear to people. I love being able to meet all different people and provide support during difficult times.Watching my clients achieve their goals is incredibly rewarding.
