About Me

Frank is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of Massachusetts. His therapeutic interests include helping people through the struggles of depression, anxiety and trauma, especially brought on by difficult life transitions, such as unemployment and job difficulties, school struggles, grief and loss, change in health, and relationship issues, among other concerns. His approach to therapy, influenced by cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and other evidence-based therapeutic approaches, recognizes the healing value of honestly telling one’s story while developing practical solutions for today through the instrument of a collaborative therapeutic relationship.

I once was fortunate enough to work with a client, a musician, that was dealing with debilitating anxiety and depression, to the point where the individual took a long leave from work and had a difficult time being in public. Week by week, we worked together in rebuilding confidence through a process of learning cognitive-behavioral tools, and the client weekly setting out on what we called "small missions," tasks to conquer fears. Over time the client regained confidence, went back to work, and performed music in front a large group of people, something that previously seemed impossible.

Counseling with me is collaborative and individualized to the person. I believe that you are the true expert regarding yourself, and I'm there as an experienced guide to accompany you bringing out the wisdom that will help reach your goals. I have learned through the years that there is simply a therapeutic value of simply telling one's story in one session as learning new skills and applying them to specific situations in life in the next session.

What I tell many new clients, especially those new to the process, is that counseling is simply a conversation between to people, with a specific focus on what's important to you. I will typically ask a lot of questions in the first session, listening closely to what kind of changes you may want to see through the process. I may give thoughts and suggestions, but I respect it's up to on how you want to move forward.

Compassion literally means “to suffer together" and while with my clients, I'min the struggle with them and genuinely care about them. I do this work because I would like help those I work with to be free from suffering.
