About Me

Hannah Wittman is a board-certified art therapist who incorporates art as an optional tool to support healing and personal growth. She earned her master’s degree in art therapy from Marywood University and later became board-certified and obtained her LPC. With five years of experience, Hannah has worked with children, adolescents, and adults across a variety of settings, including schools, outpatient and inpatient facilities, and within the brain injury community. She understands that many individuals may be unfamiliar with art therapy or feel intimidated by the idea, believing they need to be skilled artists. However, Hannah emphasizes that art therapy is about the process—how it makes a person feel—rather than the final product.

FAQs

During my experience in outpatient therapy, I have helped a client be able to gain trust in a therapist after they thought that therapy was not for them. This particular client tried many different therapist and were feeling defeated about their journey. They decided that they wanted to give art therapy a try and it was an eye-opening experience for them. They were able to process their emotions visually and did not feel as anxious about having to verbalize their emotions into words. This helped them gain insight into their anxiety and developed a new coping skill for them.

In general I like to keep my sessions client-centered and opened ended. I am open to anything that clients would like to discuss that might have happened during their week or even years ago. I will be a guide to help them process negative emotions and create solutions together.

First sessions with me are typically relaxed and focused on learning about my client. I want to make my clients feel comfortable by building a healthy therapeutic relationship and trust.

I enjoy seeing people grow emotionally and mentally stronger. Being able to be the person who go on this journey of healing with people is an amazing experience. I also like helping people understand that their pasts or fears do not have to be roadblocks that define their future,

Highlights

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I help people gain knowledge about themselves that involves guiding them to better understand their own thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and patterns. You would learn coping skills which are strategies that help individuals manage stress, anxiety, or difficult emotions that will be individually tailored. These can include techniques like deep breathing, mindfulness, journaling, or using positive self-talk. I want my clients to feel empowered, validated, and more confident in managing their own emotions.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I utilize evidence-based therapies, including Psychotherapy, Art Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness Therapy & Solution-Focused Therapy.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My biggest strengths are being empathetic and non judgmental. I am accepting and open minded to other people's situations and help them feel supported within sessions. I create healthy and safe spaces for people to feel comfortable talking and being vulnerable within sessions. I provide support to people throughout their journeys as they navigate difficult emotions, thoughts and feelings.
