About Me

Jennifer is a licensed independent clinical social worker who has been working in the mental health field since 2013. She has extensive experience in community, hospital, and residential settings, providing support to clients with diverse mental health diagnoses and backgrounds. For the past four years, she has worked as a psychotherapist, assisting individuals, couples, and families on their journey toward optimal functioning and wellness. Using a trauma-informed and recovery-oriented approach, Jennifer helps clients unpack and process both current and past concerns while collaborating on a treatment plan to promote overall well-being.

FAQs

I worked with a client for several years to unpack and process childhood trauma. The client struggled with internalizing guilt, blame, and shame while attempting to function with a dysregulated nervous system. I engaged client with a trauma-informed care approach while utilizing trauma informed CBT, and mindfulness to promote healing. The client focused on healing her inner child by demonstrating love and compassion to herself, promoting positive self talk, and self care. The client was able to engage with these strategies, we tracked progress, adjusted approaches as needed and client was able to function well with an arsenal of strategies to manage symptoms.

My approach in therapy is to provide safety, support, empathy, and compassion as a client navigates their treatment goals. I am a firm believer that the client is the expert on their lives and I am there to provide active listening, feedback, and reflection as they unpack and process emotions/feelings. I utilize psycho-education and worksheets while integrating mindfulness and CBT strategies to promote healthier ways of coping.

My first session typically focuses on orienting client to the therapeutic space and providing insightful information on policies and procedures, informed consent, contact information, mandated reporting, scheduling, diagnosis, risks/benefits of therapy, treatment planning, and spending time viewing client's history and presenting problem.

The client's I get the pleasure collaborating with motivate me to provide exceptional support and safety. Being a therapist is a rewarding and highly motivating role as there is nothing more satisfying than sitting with a client during a moment of insight, growth, and healing. On the other hand, sitting with a client during the most difficult time of their lives is equally motivating as you are the person that they can turn to, to process and support, and bolster their strengths and resiliency.

Highlights

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I am a firm believer in the collaboration and rapport of the client/clinician relationship. I promote focus on the client being the expert of their lives and provide a safe, judgement free space to bolster their strengths, confidence, and resiliency. I will work with the client to uncover patterns and beliefs that maybe holding them back. I want clients to know when they come into the therapeutic space they are heard, validated, and supported throughout their wellness journey.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I utilize evidence-based therapies, including Psychotherapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy & Trauma-Focused Therapy.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe a good therapist must have compassion, active listening skills, and the ability to build trust in the therapeutic space. These are strengths I have developed and focus on as I want my clients to gain comfort and support as they work alongside me in the therapeutic space. I believe empathy and authenticity are additional strengths that allow clients to come into the space and feel ready to do the necessary work and knowing their therapist is a safe and supportive person along the way.
