Hi! I am Maria and I am a licensed clinical social worker. I have been working in social work for over 25 years and have a variety of experience. I believe in creating an environment where people feel safe and heard. I am certified and DBT and Anxiety as well as CBT. My treatment approaches include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBTp, CBT-social functioning, CBT for Anxiety), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD and Sexual Abuse, as well as Emotionally Focused Therapy, Person Centered, Psychodynamic, and Solution Focused Therapies. I strive to be strength based and affirming. On a personal note, I am a mom of 2 adult children and have navigated a divorce as well as single parenthood. I love my pets and enjoy reality TV and all types of music.
In my career, I have worked with persons who are co-occurring with a substance use issue. In one case, I navigated someone through their relapse prevention plan and then assisted and supported as they walked into the world of their own sobriety.I have felt the proudest when I have assisted someone to feel safe to confide and walk through their darkest emotions with no judgement, just support.
A counseling session with me will feel comfortable and safe but also provide support and challenge you to acknowledge and identify your emotions in order to live your best life. I am a real, down to earth person who will create conversation with you as well as be prepared each time we meet.
A first session is what I call, a get to know you. it is a time for me to meet you where you are at in the moment and learn more about your journey and what you desire from therapy while hopefully being able to provide immediate support and validation.
Being a therapist allows me to bring myself to others and support them and be there for them when they most need it and ongoing. People need people and no one should ever feel alone.

I believe that everyone deserves a safe place to navigate their emotions. My goal is for you to feel heard and allow you the time to focus on YOU! So many times, in the day to day, we get lost, and our emotions take a back seat to our jobs, school, family and the expected roles we play. This is your safe space to talk about what is on your mind, be accepted, navigate emotions and get in touch with what and how you want life to look like.I believe that all people need to be reminded of their worth. Life can just be tough sometimes. Therapy is not meant to be hard or feel like a chore. I want you to be comfortable in your home and even stay in your jammies and drink your morning coffee while we work through it together. My desire is for you to feel safe, validated and heard.

I utilize evidence-based therapies, including Psychotherapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Psychodynamic Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy & Trauma-Focused Therapy.
