Mattea LeWitt is a licensed clinical social worker with over 16 years of experience. She has worked with children, families, and adults in home, school, and community settings. Believing that everyone deserves healthcare tailored to their unique needs, she strives to create a safe space where clients feel celebrated and welcomed. As a social worker, she is committed to supporting members of historically marginalized communities, including LGBTQ+ individuals, neurodiverse people, multicultural populations, and veterans.
I've helped clients recognize that it was okay to say no and prioritize their own needs. In many aspects of our lives, we've been taught to ignore our own boundaries, and learning to advocate for ourselves with respect and kindness helps create a fairer, more just world where we all look out for each other.
I'm very structured, so I always make a plan in collaboration with my clients. We'll typically have some time at the beginning to check in and review home practice tasks, and then we'll choose agenda items and prioritize what we want to cover during that session. At the end of our appointment, we'll reflect on what we discussed, select a home practice task to work on between sessions and schedule our next meeting.
In first sessions, I want us to start to get to know each other and see how we can best work together. In addition to logistical needs (reviewing confidentiality and intake paperwork), I always like to understand what's bringing someone to therapy now, what has been helpful or not helpful for them in the past, and their personal goals.
I really enjoy helping people to learn, grow, and make positive changes in their lives (sometimes things they didn't even know they were capable of doing!). Modern life can be so busy, and I appreciate the chance to create space for self-reflection and transformation through the healing power of relationships.
Highlights
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
Clients can expect to leave our sessions feeling empowered, heard, and validated. Since therapy is (typically) only once a week and I want to help people grow and progress between sessions, I share lots of resources and encourage my clients to work on home practice tasks between appointments.
What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?
I utilize evidence-based therapies, including Psychotherapy, Attachment-Based Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure Therapy, Mindfulness Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy & Trauma-Focused Therapy.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
My biggest strengths include practical skills and strategies, such as changing thought patterns, improving self-care, addressing challenges with emotion management, developing healthy boundaries, and breaking tasks down into smaller, more manageable increments. I also love learning new things and sharing information with my clients.
