About Me

Thich Nhat Hanh says "The most precious gift we can offer others is our presence. When mindfulness embraces those we love, they will bloom". These powerful words resonate with me when I reflect on my approach to therapy & what an honor it is to hold space for all of the people who have shared their stories with me through my 10+ years working in the field. I believe very deeply in the power of language to give a voice to the voiceless, to gift understanding to the curious seeker & help us all connect more openly & authentically with the world around us. Whether you're dealing with depression, processing a loss, managing anxiety, processing through work/relationship stress, or you're just looking for someone to listen & give feedback, I invite you to come with me on a journey to sit crooked & talk straight about whatever is weighing most on your heart & mind.

FAQs

I consider it a breakthrough every time I hear a client say "Oh wow, I never thought of it that way" or "No one's ever said it to me like that before". As your therapist my job isn't to tell you what I think your breakthrough moment should look like, I'm just here to help you talk things through & your breakthrough moments will happen naturally. Every time you achieve a new level of awareness it opens up the possibility of a new way of being in the world, we can celebrate because you're taking steps down the path to change!

Lots of humor, rigorous honesty, incorporation of literature to help mebetter find the language to connect to your worldview, space to unravel &voice messy thoughts, & plenty of checking in throughout the process tomake sure this is still working for you every step of the way!

First session after intake typically consists of what's called rapport building- so that's casual conversation about who you are & what you're seeking out of therapy so I can get to know more about you & we can make sure we're well matched for the emotional journey you're about to undertake. If you feel the "vibes" are right, then hey that's great! Let's keep going so you can get the most out of your therapy experience!

"I slept & dreamt that life was joy. I awoke & saw that life was service. Iacted, & behold I found that service was joy." - Rabindranath Tagore

When I read these words for the first time I cried, because I had FINALLY found the language to express my core values & what has always inspired me to turn toward the therapy profession. Mental health is as vitally important as physical wellbeing & my motivation is to make a safe space for you to explore your mental health & what you want out of life through the art of skillful conversation. What motivates me most is YOU!

Highlights

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Clients who choose to work with me can expect first & foremost an empathetic, judgment free space to tell your story in your own words so we can work together to best figure out what it is you're seeking going forward. I believe there is immense power in putting language to our experiences, & a skilled therapist should not only help you find the words to tell your own story, but they should also be equipped to help you grow in your awareness by offering constructive feedback & skillful reframing of negative self talk narratives to help you better contextualize the world around you. My clients can expect plenty of laughter, sometimes tears, healthy validation, honesty, & plenty of space to have the difficult conversations & express the big emotions so you can continue to grow toward the healthiest version of yourself.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I utilize evidence-based therapies, including Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy & Narrative Therapy.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

The foundations of my therapeutic approach is very much informed by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) which gives me the ability to work with people to build awareness of cognitive distortions that keep us trapped in negative self talk narratives & anxiety spirals that only serve to exhaust us. My biggest strength is in building solid rapport with my clients so I can help you push back on blindspots & learn about the different ways of viewing the world to empower you to take charge of the aspects of your life you can control, & learn to set down the weight of that which no longer serves you. Working with me you're going to get someone who will listen to your whole story & will tell you the truth & push back when/where it's needed while making sure you're feeling safe & respected every step of the way.
