Hi, I’m Sarah Moynihan, a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) based in Massachusetts, offering telehealth services to adults and seniors looking for support with their mental health and well-being. I truly believe that you are the most important investment you’ll ever make, and I’m here to create a warm, supportive space where we can work together to help you understand yourself better and navigate life’s challenges. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Assumption University and a Master’s in Social Work from Bridgewater State University.
I worked with a client in a correctional facility determined to avoid future incarcerations. With a history of gang involvement, they initially minimized concerns about their environment, but through months of reflection, they recognized the need to separate from their peer group. This realization was pivotal. Over time, the client began prioritizing family over previous affiliations and developed a stronger commitment to staying out of jail. They also learned to manage anger and resolve conflicts without violence.Ultimately, they embraced a path of positive choices, focusing on healthier relationships and breaking free from the cycle of incarceration.
In counseling with me, you can expect a supportive, compassionate, and non-judgmental environment where your well-being is my top priority. I approach therapy with a laid-back style, creating a comfortable space where you can be yourself. At the same time, I’m genuinely enthusiastic about your success and will challenge you in a respectful, encouraging way to help you grow and reach your full potential. I believe in you and in your ability to make positive changes.
In our first therapy session, you can expect me to ask a lot of questions. I’m genuinely eager to get to know you and build rapport, ensuring that I understand your story as you experience it. I’ll ask clarifying questions and paraphrase what you share to make sure I’ve got it right. It’s important to me that you feel heard and validated, so I’ll take the time to acknowledge your feelings while also highlighting your strengths. By the end of the session, you’ll leave feeling like you’ve met someone who is just as invested in your goals as you are.
As a therapist, I am deeply motivated by the opportunity to create a supportive, empathetic, and nonjudgmental space for my clients to explore their experiences and challenges. I have always believed in the incredible potential for growth within every individual, and it's this belief that drives my passion for therapy.
