About Me

Wayne is a licensed mental professional counselor with over a decade of experience helping adults navigate life’s challenges and discover their inner resilience. He believes that understanding each individual’s unique story—including their cultural background, identity, and lived experiences—is key to meaningful therapeutic work. His experience includes supporting LGBTQ+ individuals, refugees, survivors of domestic violence, and adults working through childhood trauma. He takes a feminist-psychodynamic approach to therapy, exploring how past experiences, relationships, and cultural context shape an individual’s present self.

FAQs

A particularly significant breakthrough occurred when a client was able to realize that their self-esteem wounds originating in childhood abuse continued to drive their adult attachment patterns and tendency to enter into unhealthy relationships. This insight enabled them to be more change patterns of relating to others in order to begin to develop healthier relationships.

In general, the counseling process will be somewhat open-ended. Early on, we will establish goals to work toward but the specific path to achieving those goals will only emerge as the work begins to take place. This will involve increasing insight and awareness as well as the nurturing of existing strengths and the development of new skills in order to ensure success.

Typically, my first session involves a lot of information gathering. This assists me in understanding each person's unique experiences and needs.

As hokey as this might sound, I honestly feel truly honored to be involved in the change process. I recognize the vulnerability, courage, and strength that this takes and I am so appreciative to be in a position to offer help in other people's journeys.
